Memories of the Market

Memories of the Market was a film screening held on the 7th June at the Lost Theatre in Stockwell, London.  The screening was part of the London Festival of Architecture and focused on the theme of memory. Outside the theatre colourful fruit and vegtables from New Covent Garden Market were available for guests to enjoy.  I nibbled on strawberries and peaches.  The series of artworks I created inspired by the Market were exhibited on the stairs leading to the cinema.  Just below my works, a garland of carrots and vegtables decorated the stairs.  The film comprised of ten mini documentaries …

Round Tower, Black Swan, Frome

Wonderful to be exhibiting with the SGFA in the dynamic Black Swan Gallery in Frome.  The Society of Graphic Fine Art – The Drawing Society is the only national society in the UK dedicated exclusively to drawing.  Founded in 1919, the Society promotes fine drawing skills in both traditional and contemporary media. Today, they have more than 130 elected members across Britain, consisting of professional artists from all areas of the art world who work in all drawing and printmaking media. Botanical Beauty

The tradition of marrying art with science goes back to the 6th century when the first botanical illustrations were created.  The heyday of botanical art was from the 17th to the 19th century.  In recent years, there has been a renaissance in this genre.  Great to have one of my drawings selected for this open exhibition showcasing contemporary British botanical illustrations in a variety of styles. SPACE/LCN Showcase

SPACE, Mare Street, 19-21 January 2017 An exhibition including new works, works in progress, prototypes or experiments created by the first round of LCN participants.  I exhibited two hand finished limited edition lithograph prints.  I am so pleased to have completed my first series of prints and view this as an ongoing project.  It has been fantastic to have mentoring, attend workshops and widen my network.  The show was an energetic inspiring collection of works. Tower 42

Artful invited me to exhibit artworks in the foyer of Tower 42.  The buildings original name was the Natwest Tower.  It was opened in 1981 and held the status as the tallest building in the City of London for 30 years until it was surpassed by the Heron Tower in 2009.  Viewings can be arranged by appointment – please contact me for further information. Prints in progress

I was awarded a place on the artist development professional program called London Creative Network.  My intention was to translate my drawings into print.  I chose to learn about the lithographic process because I like the rich velvet lines and varied tonal qualities that could be created.  I really enjoy the different steps involved in creating a lithograph – processing the stone, drawing directly onto limestone, etching and printing.  I found the stone to be a wonderful material to draw upon.  It is cold to touch but then warms up. Putney Artist Open House 2016

Draw 16, I am so pleased to have three drawings accepted by the Society of Graphic Fine Art for their Annual exhibition.  More than 200 works of art by artists, illustrators and printmakers around the country are on display.  It is an inspiring show that explores drawing in the broadest of terms.
